This gene encodes a muscle-specific class III intermediate filament. Homopolymers of this protein form a stable intracytoplasmic filamentous network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane. Mutations in this gene are associated with desmin-related myopathy, a familial cardiac and skeletal myopathy (CSM), and with distal myopathies. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

This blot was produced using a 10% SDS-PAGE. The Nitrocellulose membrane was then blocked for an hour before being incubated with IRM006 overnight at 4°C.

Cells were fixed with 4% PFA for 10 min at RT, permeabilized with 0.1% NP-40 for 10 min at RT then blocked with 5% BSA for 30 min at RT. Cells were stained with IRM006 anti-Desmin antibody (red) at 1:200 and 4°C. DAPI (blue) was used as the nuclear counter stain.
