Chicken IgY Antibody Discovery Service
IgY antibodies are stable, specific and cost-effective, with the advantage of not triggering harmful immune responses.
iReal Biotechnology provides one of the most cost-effective custom chicken IgY antibody production services in the industry. Our standard 56-day production package includes four immunizations, yielding approximately 5–10 eggs per chicken. Typically, two chickens are used for each project.

Procedures for the production of chicken egg polyclonal IgY
1. Immunization with Antigen
2. IgY Containing Eggs
3. Purification
4. Purified Polyclonal IgY
Polyclonal IgY antibodies are produced by immunizing chickens with an antigen of interest. The antibodies are subsequently harvested from the egg yolk and purified. This process is relatively straightforward, and its cost-effectiveness makes IgY a valuable tool for research, diagnostics, and potential therapeutic applications.
Potential applications of IgY technology
IgY antibodies can be applied to the detection of foodborne
pathogens and allergens, offering a rapid and sensitive approach for
ensuring food safety. They can also be used to prevent or treat
infectious diseases in animals and to detect specific pathogens in
animal samples. Moreover, IgY has broad applications in human and
veterinary health, the food industry, and scientific research.

Advantages of Chicken IgY Antibodies
Higher avidity
Most mammalian proteins exhibit enhanced immunogenicity in chickens compared to mammals, due to the greater phylogenetic distance. As a result, chickens tend to generate antibodies with higher avidity, making them particularly effective for producing antibodies against conserved mammalian proteins.
High yield
Only very small amounts of antigen are required to induce high and long-lasting IgY titers in egg yolk.
Lower background
IgY and IgG differ structurally in their Fc regions. Unlike IgG, IgY does not bind to Fc receptors, resulting in markedly reduced false-positive staining and lower background noise in immunoassays.
Higher specificity
Compared with mammalian IgG, chicken IgY shows reduced cross-reactivity with non-target mammalian proteins.
